Fashola breaks silence following exclusion from Tinubu’s cabinet

Former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), has said he does not need a title to serve in the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

Recall that Fashola was not appointed to a ministerial position in Tinubu’s cabinet, which was sworn-in last month.

In an interview with newsmen at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, yesterday, Fashola, who is a close aide of President Tinubu, said that he was happy to serve the country in any capacity.

He said, “I do not need a title to serve; the President can only appoint at least one minister, for example, from each state which he has done. There are just enough places in parastatals, they are doing that; we are estimated to be 200 million, and so there are not enough offices to accommodate everybody.

According to him, “All of us must play our roles as citizens, and a citizen does not need a title to serve”.

He said he was confident that the current administration was birthing the next generation of leaders. “We are also talking about the next generation; if some do not move on, where is the place for the next batch?

“There is the need to bring more outstanding public-spirited people to occupy spaces as they evolve”, he further stated.
